About

The story behind Damruvani

Expressive voices for India's languages, recorded with consent.

Inspired by Mahadev's damru

In the old stories, the damru's beat is naad — the first sound. Damruvani carries that idea into speech, in the languages India speaks.

We build for Indian scripts and voices first: their akshar, their rhythm and the way people mix languages.

We are in a public beta. We label what is still being tuned and add a voice only with its speaker's consent.

What we hold to

  1. Every voice is recorded with consent.

  2. Beta labels instead of guesses.

  3. A non-commercial beta, said plainly.

  4. No fake reviews and no made-up numbers.
